Rory : Clean Beauty Look Before and After

Before Makeup

Hi everyone! It’s a great day for another makeup look.

Photographer, Rory, doesn’t really wear makeup so I really appreciated it when she “lent me her face” for this post. We decided on a minimalist clean beauty look that reflects her personality and that would be practical for her to wear at work.

I used a mattifying primer on Rory to keep her shine free while working with warm studio lights, then I evened out her skin tone with a cream foundation (I love my RCMA foundation and I am fiercely loyal to it because of it’s very high pigmentation). To keep this look simple, I skipped heavy cream contouring and highlighting and opted for a light cream blush and some strobing liquid on the high points of her cheekbones. I set everything with a neutral setting powder and warmed up Rory’s face with matte bronzing powder and layered on a powder illuminizer.

Fresh and polished

The key to a no makeup look is to use a light hand. It really takes a lot of discipline to know when to stop putting on makeup, and this is especially true when you like to keep things clean and natural. To keep things as “authentically Rory” as possible, I simply brushed up her eyebrows and lightly filled in any blank spaces with an eyebrow pencil and set the hairs with a brow mascara. For the eyelids, I just used a single taupe color over the whole lid. We skipped the mascara — she doesn’t like it, and that’s ok!

As a fan of Lisa Eldridge, I had her words in her mind when she said that a nude lip is actually a statement and nothing could be more true. So I decided to do a beautiful warm nude on Rory’s lips for extra polish and sophistication.

Lipstick: Inglot

As you can see, we don’t really need to wear tons of makeup to make an impact. I especially love this look because it’s a great example of how easy it is to look polished and professional with just a little effort.

I hope you enjoyed this look! See you next time and have a beautiful day!
